heres a cut and paste of my old gear ratios thread...

ok so i did some math, using this formula for top speed. and using the numbers provided be willie and dave,

    rpm x 12.5
    --------------
    168 x R

rpm i set at 6000, 12.5 is the rolling radius of a loaded driving tire, 168 is a constent factor, and R is your gear ratio. so you times final drive by overdrive and plug that number in as the gear ratio

so plugged in; fe trannie. 4.18 x .82

    6000 x 12.5 =75000.
    --------------
    168 x 3.4276 =575.8368
    =
    75000
    -------
    575.8368
    =
    130.24 mph@ 6000 rpm, 130.24 x 1.61 =209.69 km/h

    ge trannie, 3.74 x .82

    6000 x 12.5 = 75000
    -----------------------
    168 x 3.0668 = 515.224
    =

    75000
    --------
    515.224
    =
    145.5677531mph @ 6000rpm
    145.5677531 x 1.61 = 234.3640824 km/h

    at trannie, 4.29 .73

    6000 x 12.5 = 75000
    ---------------
    168 x 3.1317 = 526.1256
    =
    75000
    -------
    526.1256
    =
    142.5515124 x 1.61 = 229.507935 km/h @ 6000 rpm

    just for mafix,

    mr2 n/a 4.176 x .82

    6000 x 12.5 = 75000
    --------------
    168 x 3.42432= 575.285576
    =
    75000
    -------
    130.3700338
    =
    130.3700338 x 1.61 = 209.8957545km/h

    mr2 t 4.29 x .73

    6000 x 12.5 = 75000
    ---------------
    168 x 3.1317 = 526.1256
    =
    75000
    -------
    526.1256
    =
    142.5515124 mph, x 1.61 = 229.507935 km/h

by my calcs the winner is the gts s-53 trannie,\

    thanks for the numbers team
