Front wheel bearings

OK, when I first picked up my car back in June, I replaced pretty much the entire front suspension: new CV axles, balljoints, tierod ends, and well as the front wheel bearings. I finally just got around to replacing the rear wheel bearings this week, however I still have what I call "rolling noise".

And I've managed to determine that the source of the noise is the FRONT passenger wheel bearings. So I wondering what I hell I could have done wrong during the install. It was a complete PITA, but relatively straight forward. Of course, I installed all new seals at that time.

The question I have is, let just say it was a crappy seal is the issue. With the replacement bearings being only a couple months old, can I get away with just repacking and resealing them? And is it possible that the bearing itself actually went bad??

Are you sure that the sound is from the bearings and not from a tire that needs to be rebalanced?

If you still believe that it is the bearings, then jack the car with the tire on, and see if there is any play by pulling and pushing on wheel by grabbing the tire. If there is play, then check the torque on the hub nut.

If there is no noticeable play in the wheel, then simply repack the bearings to start.

If the torque is correct on the hub nut and you are getting play in the wheel, then it is the bearings, and they will need replacing.

    Good Luck, Tripp

yeah, it turned out to be the passenger front wheel bearing. Replaced it and noise all gone.

it actually happens all to often at my shop that brand new wheel bearings are faulty.
