Couple Problems - Possibly a fuel issue?

Have two problems that I would appreciate if someone could help me get them sorted out.

    Problem 1:

There is a problem with my gas gauge. It never seems to want to work properly. Usually it'll go to about half; where is should be then under normal driving condition (no hills, not speeding) the gauge will just drop to past empty and stay there. Eventually and randomly with slowly go up then drop again. It always happens when I just fuel up. Though will also happen long after I have fueled up. Must be a sensor??

    Problem 2:

Usually when the car is "cold". I'll reverse out of my driveway then shift to first and start moving and the car will hesitate to get going; almost as it's about to die. Even if I give it lots or little gas it won't matter.

Problem two has been happening pretty much since I got the car (1 year ago) and is happening more frequently. Though Problem 1 has been happening since I got the car running again after I sold the 4Runner; month or so ago.

    Any help would be awesome.

    Thanks,

    Tanner

Gauge issue, I think as you say its the sender or maybe the internal float in the tank.

Cold start moving, mine did this a long while back. turned out I had three things not helping me.
1, damaged 02 wire as car warmed up it went away but moving from cold first 100yards was a pain.
2, poor conection with my coil lead, was arcing a bit
3, tiny crack in my dizzy cap, only found it with black dust on the outside of it.

    hope that helps

    #1 new sending unit.
#2 what rich said. lots of little things in there can add up to a huge issue.
