    Hey guys,
Ihave an 89 celica GT with auto climate control. The air mix servo is having trouble moving the wire that goes through the fire wall and to the water valve in the engine compartment. At this point I decided to buy a new servo, of course the part is now unavailable. I was wondering if any one has tried rebuilding their servos or if they know what kind of a motor i can use to replace the one inside the servo? I was also wondering if the pull wire that goes through the firewall, loses it rigidity and maybe its not the servo?( Of course they stopped making the wire also) Any help would be appreciated cuz it's hot in so cal with no ac. :stupid

theres a thread on here somewhere about resodering spots on the inside to make it work again, quick fix is to get the heater door held open and just move the value back and forth by hand that is under the dash that the wire is attached too

Resolder all the pins on the rear of the panel
Check the valve itself is free and smooth, they get gummed up when the water isn't kept clean
If the valve is sticky it can damage the motor gear and they need to be replaced
The gear itself is large and I hear you can get away with just turning it to where the teeth arent worn

it's both the wire through the firewall. unhook the wire (just above the ECU, towards the left side) move it in and out from the engine bay while greasing it.

now the servo's motor is most likely fine. it's the plastic gears inside that might have been chewed up because it's been trying to move a stuck wire.

    like this:

(chewed bottom part of gear, i just rotated the gear so there's teeth touching the top right smaller gear)

    Thanks guys,
I popped open the servo and the plastic teeth are all there. The water valve seems to be moving freely when i move it by hand. I tried adding a little white lithium grease to both sides of the cable and it seems to have helped. Now if I turn off the fan and then change the temp to hot the servo will pull the cable all the way open instead of stopping half way. But its still kinda struggling, (especially with fan blowing) I was gonna try to change the motor in the servo to see if the motor was just getting tired. I'm just having a lot of trouble trying find what kind of motor to try. I have a feeling the cable is breaking down and flexing more then it should. But I'm off to the junk yard tomorrow to try and find another one.
