Battery fuse location?

Does anyone know where the fuse for the battery is located? I have the 86-89 Hanes Celica build & tear down book but says nothing about the battery fuse. It should have one somewhere, or the electricals that I checked should have been fried. Having no car sucks.
    Thanks.

It's not a 'fuse' per se, but a fusible link. It's in the engine bay usually right off of the battery. Here's a post from my build thread on CTech. Depending on your trim level, you may have a different rated fusible link.

I have the FE and while I don't the same type of fuse box trap door thing as you I do see the AM1 and AM2, and I do have that near my battery. I'll take a closer look. Thanks

If you saw smoke when you connected the jumpers, you either had the cables on wrong or the starter is jammed. If you added any wires recently, disconnect them

Check that link and all your fuses, then disconnect the + from your starter and try again to see if there's power to the car.

If so, you need to strip the starter and clean it

Yes, Stig I did see white smoke when I put the positive on the terminal, and it smoked on the terminal and no where else. All fuses that I checked (The 2 boxes in the bay and the driverside) looked good. My volt meter didn't read any open circuits on the fuses either. I considered Tim's post and looked for the fusible links and didn't find that looked like his, but I looked at my main fuse box and saw what looked like fusible links, but looking different from Tim's. Haven't added any wires but I'll try the starter disconnect method. Thank you.

If it smoked at the battery terminal it could be a sign of a dirty (corroded) terminal.
Clean the posts and clamps with sandpaper or a small wire brush, make sure the clamps are tight.

"Clean and tight" is the electricians motto

Sometimes people grease the posts and that can also cause smoking as the grease burns away

Pity you aren't here or I'd tell you in seconds what the problem is

The battery was bought in the last 10 months and I've also greased it ever since. I think I melted a bit of the positive terminal when it smoked because there is a small chunk missing and I remember it melting away. It's one of those 640 CCA Duralast Goldclass batteries, it's pretty awesome. Power when I need it.

Well, I disconnected the starter and still no power. I used a circuit tester to test for power and connected it to my - terminal. I found that the large wire coming from my + terminal works, so there actually is power, but stops working further down for some reason. My fuses are still good, but they just aren't getting any power. I tested the mess of wires under the fuse box and nothing. There was a taped relay near my left headlight that I believe some mechanic worked on years ago, it looks unnatural to me because it was taped on a wire and not in a box. Thinking it might be for the battery, I removed the old tape and poked at its connection insert with the tester and sure enough, the starter engaged.

Okay so that works, what about the others. I've even removed the plastic around the radio to access the CPU and test that. I've got interior that I removed lying all over the place inside the car. Reminds me of cars at the scrap yard lol :(

This should have been a simple fix..:ack2

Look for any other modifications and fix them properly 1st.

If you have voltage on one end of a wire and nothing on the other end, the wire is damaged.
Work your way from the + terminal and see where the voltage stops
There is a main relay next to your radio also, I wonder if that may be broken
