Auto-to-Manual Trans Swap ?'s

So I searched for some info on a auto-to-manual trans swap, and couldn't really find anything that answered any of my questions.

As near as I can figure, all that I need to do is; pull the auto trans, remove two-pedal set-up, put in three-pedal set-up, and put in manual trans.

Now I know that nothing is ever that easy so if anybody has done one of these swaps, could you give me some pointers and things that need done? Oh and somebody I know that works on Honda's told me I should see if I need to change out the subframe to make it work also? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

well for starters, pull the dash and center brace so you can have a clear line to drill out the clutch master, the plug should be in your firewall, pull the auto shifter and cables and bolt in the 5speed one. engine wise, i suggest you drain the trannine first. cut the lines going to the rad, (trannie cooler) then with your car in park or on the ground get a 32mm socket, and the biggest breaker bar you can find. and break the half shafts loose, they will have i think 6 bolts holding then to the trannie on either side. unbolt your trannine and walk it back a bit, so you can get at the torque converter to flex plate bolts. pull the whole unit off, pop off the flex plate and your ready for 5-speed glory, good luck!!

So I don't have to change the subframe or the E.C.U.?

sub frame no, mounts for the trannie will be different most likely, as for the ecu, as far as i know they are different, i could be wrong..(been years since ive had a auto)

no need to change the ecu, just leave it in drive when you take the trans out. the car will know its in drive when you put the manual trans in. or you could swap the ecu, whichever you want to do.

necroposting/replying but i have the same question...
if you do that, won't the car not start? cuz with the auto, it won't start if the car is on any gears asides from N and P.
So, same axles, manual shifter, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, cables, flywheel+clutch?
my auto is dying and there's a s53 available for $60 around my area.

-i belive youd just remove the auto trans ecu. its seperate from the main ecu, and the manuals are wired for it. i think the only question would be neutral start switch attached to the clutch. check the bgb as the wiring is probably in the car already. might be linked to whatever switch only allows an auto to be started in P or N?

-double check on the axles, i thought the inners are different.
