Product: Toyota T-VIS Controller Manuf./Distr.: Pampe Performance Engineering Doesn't really apply to me at this point, but I came across this recently and thought it would be worthy of a discussion  Any thoughts? -K edited again: Site has some photos and whatnot now, check it out for your self! tvis only works correctly at one setting, no need for a controller. unless it can somehow inproce fuel effency
yeah 4200 RPM or whatever it is so I guess it does nothing? Kinda wierd 1/3 of the site is dedicated to it :? -K
is it possible to adjust tvis without a piggypack? I rememebr readign about it a while ago. That would be a good thing to tune, if you do 2 pulls, one tvis open and one closed, then graph the two HP curves (or torque) the best point would be when the graphs cross right?
tvis is controled by one signal ,+12v after 4200rpm, any piggy pack can control it easily, in usa you have crapy smt6 i think
Mate of mine who runs a 185 is buying a T-VIS controller and we are going to have a play, I want to bring it down further into the rev band. I have seen others strip the lot out and just run without it.
good luck increasing torque would be fun seeing a loss in power when it kicked in and u can call it a speed damper cause my 135hp engine is too powerful, had to limit it hehe
read the site! it explains everything about it and to me looks like a good product. i wish they had pics of it.
Hey this sounds like something we racers can really use, especialy since these cars don't have alot of adjustability through normal tuning methods. Oh by the way, does anyone know a good source for reflashing our factory ECU chips, I'm having trouble finding a JDM ECU. racerb
i was actually contacted by the vendor who saw this post. they are very nice and interested in doing business with us.
I would say since you can feel the TVIS engage, it would be best to have it engage at an RPM where you did not feel it (a smooth transition). The difference between that optimal RPM and the stock 4000 RPM is an area in the power band where you aren't getting the maximum possible power from your engine with the stock TVIS point.
This is Ajay Pampe with Pampe Performance Engineering. We've just got our professional production boxes worthy of pictures, so please take a look at them on www.pampeperformance.com . And I totally agree with Dman_23, I have an upgraded turbo/exhaust on my alltrac and would always feel my T-VIS kick in, which was my motivation for making this in the first place. Now my activation RPM is lowered and it's much smoother, regaining some lost mid-range power. Just wanted send an update about the pics. Thanks for your interest!
Looks/sounds like it doesn't have any advantage with a stock setup? Not too expensive by any means, and indeed the site looks pretty good. I'll have to take another look at my budget projection.
Thanks for the response, it goes without saying we appeciate you time :hail: A couple demo vids shot our way (official or unofficial) would be cool too 8) -K
I wish I would have seen this sooner, I would have told you it was dead. This started out as something discussed on the AllTrac boards. The unit *did* do what it was supposed to as verified by other AT>net members, but it was HUUUUGE. So, over all: Bulky, ugly, overpriced. Did do what it was intended to. A better overall option is to use the new digital MSD RPM. It has adjustable shift points in 50rpm increments. Runs about $200US and can be had easily on e-bay. Just something to look into for those that were interested in this mod. - Mario
