So i've got a 1988 st162 with a problem, after turning it on it will stall if there is no revs applied to it, it starts off at around 800RPM but then suddenly drops then stalls, this problem seems to happen intermediately and after a minute or so of driving the car seems to be just fine and does not drop under 500RPM, Anyone else dealt with this type of issue before? Any help would be appreciated, i got a video i made attempting to show what i mean.

image.jpg image.jpg First thing I'd check was to see if there are any tiny leaks in the main intake air hose.
Mine had mucho minute cracks in the bellows and the factory wire clamps had cut deep into the material. I couldn't easily find a satisfactory replacement so I just went to my local tuners shop and made a spiffy short ram from alum tube ,silicon adapters, and quality T-clamps. This completely solved a similar issue for me a while ago...

Thanks for the reply vic :)
Think we've found the problem, while i was re-doing the hosing of the SX i had come across a hose that had been completely disconnected next to the front right wheel, should've mentioned that the car was making a hissing noise as that hose seemed to be the cause.
We did a dodgy job at fixing it but its in there pretty solid and hasnt stalled or dropped under 500RPM since :) rsz_img_3117-min.jpg rsz_img_3121-min.jpg

Yup that looks like the ones to the bottom of the PS pump...I put tiny clamps on mine. But like so many 4g's my power steering pump has started to leak a bit. Watch yours.
