Its been a while but update on project 'CJN'

Still here... no major stuff going on with the car,though i had the opportunity to hook up with a couple of 4th Gen guys at a show yesterday. The UK MR2 Drivers Club invited the Celica Club and Supra guys along to their annual meet..Toyota guys need to stick together.Forums find it hard these days with the Facebook scourge.Tried to upload some pics but theyre too large,i need to find another 3rd party hosting site to use.(EDIT: look at further posts)
We had 4 of our 4th Gen guys present; 2 ST165s, 2 ST162s. There were more MK1 MR2s than ive ever seen in my life...seems there are more of those on the road than our cars for sure,especially in the UK. The picture above was taken by me a couple of weeks ago..did some adjustments on the car,(also new oil pump,oil,filters) but the front end fiddling threw the alignment out so i took this while waiting to have a full 4 wheel laser alignment/camber setup on the coilovers. I had an issue few months ago with a whine coming from the cambelt side,which was difficult to diagnose.Thought maybe a tensioner was playing up,we'd done a full cambelt change with all associated parts but they were all genuine Toyota bits so was unsure if i had just been unlucky..the car had also started with an intermittent and random 'bogging down' at low revs sometimes,but was fine on full revs. More investigation found the oil pump was noisy and low oil pressure.This may have affected the VVti solenoid side of the BEAMS lump as not only is it an electrical part but oil pressure at top end is regulated to make sure the valve timing works properly in some weird way.Anyway a new Toyota oil pump from the land of the rising sun is in place and the bogging hasn't reoccured so likely something in that theory.

Our very own Steve C was there too...even though sadly he couldn't bring his much missed 4th Gen along,he did however bring his 1985 Celica supra,which is a damn fine looking vehicle.Good job,sir.
