Clutch suddenly not disengaging.

    Hey all,

So 20k a go i put a new clutch on my car, had flywheel machined and all that.

Was working great until 3 days ago when suddenly it just stopped working.

On inspection the clutch fork was misaligned, so i fixed this but still no good.

Using an inspection camera, i had a look inside the bell housing to see the clutch. And its all working.....

The thrust bearing pushes on the spring fingers, and the pressure plate is lifting away evenly on all sides, which i checked by rotating it and looking at the gaps.
Nothing looks out of place but it will not disengage which is baffling.

So once again hydraulics are working, slave moves about 2cm, thrust bearing is pushing on the clutch and pressure plate is lifting yet i cant disengage clutch.

I thought perhaps the pedal isnt pushing it far enough. But with full movement it doesnt even slip. So its not that.

Only last thing i heard was something about a bearing on the end of the spline can seize and lock its movement to the flywheel, but surely a siezed bearing couldnt take 100kw and not break!

Im trying to solve this without pulling it a part but im out of ideas. Any thoughts guys?

How did you fix the clutch fork?
My 10c says the slave needs to move around 3cm, I ended up changing master and slave on my clutch for this reason

    You couldn't hear that?
When I got my GT4 the Exedy springs also fell out - I put it down to abuse by the previous hoon driver
The stock rubber clutch is far superior imo, never had any drama with them but at the same time I'm not one for laying rubber down.
From memory I used the Toyota clutch plate and the Exedy pressure plate as it was stronger than the stock pressure plate, my clutch was very stiff though - so stiff I couldn't drive when I broke my foot.

No there was no bad noise at all!
Was smooth as then it just wouldnt shift all of a sudden.
The spring was caught under the fingers on the pressure plate, jamming it against the disk. so the spring wasnt moving at all.

It however had a terrible noise/feeling afterwards, hoping it was due to this.

My local parts shop ive used for years ordered me a new one and 'scolded' me for buying an exedy, and going online haha.
Im getting a Clutch Industries one through them, Its 240, exedy was 170. I trust them however so it should be solid.

Will find out on sunday how it all goes. hopefully issues will be fixed!
