Hello guys. I have a problem with my 165.

I have just replaced the pistons and rings as 3 of them had ringgland problems. Now it's all back together she will start but will only run if i keep the revs up and feels like she is only running on 3 cylinders or has a sireious miss fire.

I have changed the plugs, Leads, distributor, Timing is spot on . Any ideas or suggestions welcome .

Do you think it's only running on 3 cylinders? You may need some help to do this...but start it and disconnect a spark plug wire (one at a time). If you pull one and the motor doesn't change in how it's running you found the cylinder that's not firing.

Did you do a compression test / leakdown test?

Tampering or unplugging the ignition leads during engine running time, potentially could get a zap, up to around a 45,000 volt zap. It would hurt, but amps are so low it would not harm. Instead, and the same effect, unplug the injector wires, sockets are shielded and very easy to quickly plug in and out. I used this method to diagnose which of my cylinders was not firing. If you know you're getting a spark too, you might happen to diagnose a faulty injector.

Not done a comp test yet doing that today had to wait for tester to get hear.

All plugs are firing checked that yesterday. All injector seals are sealing. Timing is has close as i can get with out having the car running to set with a light.

Done the compression test now and have 168 across all 4 bores on a cold engine. That sounds good to me.

Guys is the 162 afm the same as the 165.

After changing the afm off the 165 for the spare i had off the 162 she will start but only for a short time like a minuet or so on 1500rpm then she will cut out. It brings up 2 fault codes 24-32 both point to afm signal and air temp signal.

It gives me 2 codes 24-32 24= air temp sensor signal 32= airflow meter signal and the car wont start or at least run on it . it runs like it's only running on 3 cylinders but it's not it's running on all 4
