Oh NO !!!!!!! I'm back......still as demented as ever :)

Finished my first year, 2 semesters (4 months each) of classes and 1 semester work Co-op
Honors student for both semesters and I worked at the biggest junk yard/garage in the area for my Co-op. Still work there on fridays because I don't have any classes and will go back there when I graduate. I love it there get pick lots of good parts...most vehicles are less than 5 years old.
Got to do engine, tranny and transfer case swaps all summer long and when theres no customer vehicles we dismantle insurance wrecks. They have several warehouses with maybe 1000 engines 1000 trannys, 200 transfer cases, doors, hoods, fenders,...headlights, taillights, radios ....and probably around 500 wrecks in the yard

A ford Lincoln truck I pulled the motor and tranny out off

Dirty Deeds is still alive but in the garage right now because I was going to do front wheel bearings but when I got the old hubs out I found they were spun so I have new hubs on order. The engine still runs fine but does burn alot of oil due to worn valve stem seals. Its an 88 3sgte engine being run without a turbo with GTS injectors and ecu so not really worth rebuilding. I was going to get a front clip from a 93 JDM ST185 but when I phoned they had sold it along time ago and had never updated the site. I looked at alot of different options but were just JDM engines with/without trannys, 3sge red top beams, st185's & st205's and all say complete engine wiring harness, ECU and all sensors but I still worry about hooking it all up to a 1988 engine bay.

I know this summer one of the shop deliver trucks a ford f150 you could not even put gas into it because there is a valve in the filler neck that is controlled by the purge solenoid and if your purge solenoid is fucked you can't fill the tank. So getting an engine without all the pollution crap could fuck with the engines computer and the engines performance. The only reason for going to computers on engines is to control pollution.

So since I couldn't find a front clip short of going on ebay and having one shipped from Japan I did what I thought was the next and probbably even better thing

I found a 1990 JDM Celica for sale and bought it.

Some of you may want to look away now because I'm about to discuss evil things being done to this ST185

Real nice almost mint condition JDM ST185 Celica 200,000 km runs real nice kind of a shame to strip it for parts but I can't register it because its right hand drive and not over 25 years old ...I'd have to wait a year and a half but I have no desire to drive a RHD vehicle over here. If it gets to live I'll have to find a LHD doner and swap parts and firewalls. Since its JDM the body is practilly mint so it would be a shame to scrap it but thats the reality for Celicas over here....no market for sellers. I paid $2500 it should sell for twice that. It even has the power retractable side mirror and the mirror switch with the extra retract button. He never even knew the mirrors did that.

So I don't know whats going to happen with the rest of the car but I'm pretty sure I can put its engine in Dirty Deeds and make it work properly then Dirty Deeds will have some power.

The ST185 engine has an air to air TMIC so I would have to cut a hole in my hood for that and I don't want to do that. I prefer stealth and was thinking of putting a ST165 TMIC on it with the other option being a front mount air to air intercooler. I'm not going to boost the hell out of the engine, stock boost is fine for now so I see the advantage of a TMIC being alot less tubing which equals alot less air that has to be compressed before it reaches the intake manifold. I think response time with a TMIC would be a little quicker.

So any thoughts on TMIC vs FMIC anyone got a ST205 water to air TMIC for sale

You're right about the TMIC, get one from a 205 or 165

or the st185rc, which fits the best. the 205 and 165 won't fit correctly and require modification.

Well I think I'll probably go with a ST165 intercooler. I have a spare one.

I think both the ST185rc and the ST205 intercoolers would require a hole in the hood

I might be a bit crazy but I wanted to make sure I knew as much as possible about our 4th gen Celica's and other vehicles so I went back to college to get my mechanics license so now at age 53 I have

    - programmer/analyst certificate
    - computer integrated manufacturing (robotics) certificate
    - licensed mechanic

So now I have a really good idea of how everything works

Deans Honor List all 3 semesters

Algonquin Colleges Motive Power Technician Diploma

The Motive Power Technician Diploma course was an immersion program with a Co-Op
semester so I also get the Ontario wide Automotive Service Technician certificate and I
only have to do 1 year as an apprentice instead of 3 years then I can write a Canada
wide Red Seal test to become a journeyman

and in order to work I need to give these government crooks money every year so I can be a member in good standing

So I think my first challenge will be to get the 3sgte out of my 1990 JDM Celica and stick it in Dirty Deeds and switch it from air cooled to a 165 top mounted water intercooler

congrats! why does the st185 jdm have to be 25 years old? isn't it 15 years? over here in BC they're selling for 5k+ and people here are registering up to 1999 now for jdm's

Thanks guys as for the 25 year thing, just stupid government rules......but in reality I like to PASS other vehicles and so I personally think sitting on the wrong side of the car is just going to get me in an accident. The only way I would drive it would be to convert it to left hand drive....that's a possibility I would kind of like to have a 5th gen and a 6th gen to add to my collection

[h=2]Right-Hand Drive[/h]A new ministerial order prohibiting the use of right-hand drive vehicles on the road network came into effect on April 24, 2010. Unlike the two previous ministerial orders, which were in effect for a period 180 days, this new order is permanent.
[h=3]Exemptions[/h]This new order provides for the same exemptions as the previous orders, with one exception. Thus, the following right-hand drive vehicles may be operated in Québec:

    • Vehicles registered outside Québec (visiting Québec);
    • Vehicles manufactured 25 years or more before the date of the application for access to the road network;
    • Heavy vehicles, tool vehicles and vehicles required to make frequent stops along a road in performing work in connection with a public service;
    • Vehicles belonging to a driving school;

I think the 15 year thing is more to do with duties and taxes you have to pay when you import a vehicle

    LET THERE BE ROCK

    In the beginning
    back in nineteen eighty-eight
Toyota put a pretty good speaker system in their Celica's
    .......

but 27 years later the original speakers are pretty much done so now that I"m making money again
I'm going to upgrade the system I have. When I got the ST185 it came with a real nice Alpine IVA-D300
mobile media station with a 7" screen so I'll start with that. I've ordered some 3.5" and 4" kicker speakers
so I'll let the IVA-300 power them and they will replace the original front and rear factory speakers.

    Then I have
    2 x kenwood KAC 728s amplifiers
    1 kenwood KAC 820 amplifier
    1 alpine MRP T220 amplifier
    2 x rockford fosgate 10" punch speakers
2 x infinity 12" dual voice coil speakers

The 2 KAC 728s amps will power the dual voice coil speakers but the amps will not be bridged.
Its kind of weird to me being old school and never having heard of dual voice coils before but
each speaker has 2 4 ohm voice coils. they can be wired in series to make an 8 ohm speaker or
they can be wired in parallel to make a 2 ohm speaker and in both these cases you only have 1
speaker connection or you can have 2 4 ohm connections and you could send the left channel of
your amp to 1 4 ohm connection and the right channel of the amp to the second 4 ohm connection
but the variations between the left and right channels will cause distortion between the 2 4 ohm coils
but since I have 2 amps I can send the left channel from each amp to my left sub and the right
channel from each amp to the right sub. The KAC 820 powers my 2 10" subs and I'm looking for
some 6x9 speakers for my MRP T220 amp. Then to make everything play nicely together I have
a sentrek sec100 3 way electronic crossover network so I can send different frequencies to the
    various amps.

I got my new 4" speakers and my new 12" subs just waiting for the 3.5" speakers, I ordered them
    online at crutchfields canada site.

So with all the extra leds in dirty deeds visor and mirrors I have light and with the new stereo
components I think I have all the other categories covered so.........................

    Let there be sound
    there was sound
    Let there be light
    there was light
    Let there be drums
    there was drums
    Let there be guitar
    there was guitar
    Oh,Let there be rock

    And it came to pass
That rock 'n' roll was born

My 3.5" kicker speakers arrived today so i got the old toyota speakers out
    not much left of them
    [IMG]

and I installed the 4" kicker speakers in the rear housings
    [IMG]

Overall a vast improvement especially considering the condition of the old 3.5" speakers
