i put the st165 manual speedometer setup in the st205 tranny. i did happen to change out the gear that goes in the transmission and swapped it to the st205 gear thinking that it may have a different number of teeth. now when i drive the speedometer reads 10-20mph higher than normal. when i'm doing 80mph it says i'm doing 100 on the speedometer. My wheel and tire size are close to oem diameter so i dont think it is that. did anyone else do a st205 swap into a st165? is your speedo accurate?
ok the odometer is reading correctly, whatever it is it has to do with the needle part of the speedometer, anyone have any experience with this?
as far as I know the speedometer cable spins a magnet at the center point of the needle ...the faster the magnet spins the greater the force it exerts on the needle making the needle rotate farther https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_vfyt6-2Ic&feature=youtu.be heres a pretty good video
thanks for the reply, if that video is correct, the only thing i can think is wrong is the needle is out of position or that spring doesnt have as good of tension anymore.
