http://www.roadandtrack.net.au/Document ... ilures.pdf Mandatory read for all members. Lots of very good information in here and not very long to read.
Yeah. I actually disassembled my engine prior to reading that, knowing full well that the celi had run into problems when the oil level got low. Just as the article describes, and I mean JUST AS, my third connecting rod bearing was spun slightly. Damn dry spot. I've got a machine shop trying to salvage the crank. wish me luck!
good things to look out for but mainly just an article that drags me down into depression :'( having 226 000 km on the body and an unknown amount of km's on the engine that I think was swapped in at one point in its life I can only hope things are working ok.
Updated link: http://roadandtrack.net.au/index.php/toyota/19-failures-of-toyota-twin-cam-engines Pdf down the bottom. Edit* a very good read indeed! That whole site is a trove of information!
I can see if I can find another source. Hard when I don't remember! If you're new though I suggest reading through a lot of the sticky posts in the different sections. There's a lot of good info in there on everything from general maintenance to different modifications and what's worth doing.
Luckily I saved all of Terry's articles before he took the Road & Track website down. Here ya go kids, enjoy:
