So I got a snazzy euro "Toyota4wd" grill badge for my trac and of course
I have to remove the grill to put it on. It's post facelift, so I have removed the 3 screws on top and loosened the 3 plastic lever brackets behind the grill (yeah that was fun). It still feels like it is connected on the corners in front of the headlights. Is it connected by something there. I thought that what I have done would have took the grill off. Please help, I don't want to break my shit...lol

It would already be on there if it was that easy. Intercooler radiator right in
the way for where it needs to go. No space for anything let alone a screwdriver.

3 screws on top under the bonnet and 5 plastic clips on the bottom............ These plastic clips are garbage, especially after 20 years, I broke 2 clips and I know I'm not the only one......... Toyota should have put 5 screws in here :aargh

Although these clips can be bought for peanuts I have an idea to mod this by removing the plastic clips and replace them with long thin stainless bolts (with screw driver heads) and stainless spring washers and 5x15mm long round steel/alloy tubes which will go over the plastic 'lugs' and sit on the steel frame.......... This is so I don't have to mod the 'lugs' by cutting off 15mm.

Finally got in on the car today. I had to remove one of the headlights to access the last 2 clips. Included are some pics of the back
of the grill so everyone can see the clips for future reference.

Onya Andrew.......... That badge looks sweeeeet......... Did it just slip on without modding anything?......... I can't imagine you modding.
I don't know why but I think the badge would look 'out of place' in the middle (pardon the pun) :mrgreen

I know you broke one clip did you do any more ?

That's 2 schmick looking white goods you've got there....... hurry up and get that 'car part' off there before your missus kicks your ass :mrgreen

No, I did not mod anything to make it fit. It seems the grill is made for that badge to
go in exactly that spot (lower right), I do not think you could make it fit in the center
even if you wanted to put it there unless maybe you modded it. lol I only broke one side
of one clip, so not really a big deal, that grill is not going anywhere.

To Nate, I guess maybe since it's a 165, it made it a little more difficult to get to the
clips especially since the intercooler radiator was right in the way. Center clip was no problem
but the end clips were a bitch. I also had a car alarm siren in the way of another clip. The clips
up under the headlights I could not get to. I took the right front headlight out as was able to
just get a pair of needle nose in there to get it. Luckily that freed the grill outward enough for
me to get to the clip on the left side. The perfect tool for this this would be a pair of long ass
    needle nose pliers.

Yeah, the washer and dryer are brand new and long overdue. I made sure to not let wifey see
me put my grill up there.:ack2 Thanks again for all of the help guys, I know I can always count on
you guys for solving any prob I have with the Sleekas. :cheers
Almost forgot, just wanted to give a shout out to Steve Gillies aka *Betsy*
from the UK for selling me the badge that was once on his awesome 165 named of course, Betsy.

Hey Andrew, just 5 min ago I saw a pic here with your badge on the RHS and I'm thinking hmmmmm......... Since your car is LHD would the badge on the RHS help with the handling/balance :mrgreen

Are you talking about the car or the new washer and dryer............ :lol2

    Hmm.......never thought about that! :hehe
I may have confused you or maybe myself...if you are looking at the front of the car the badge is in the lower right corner. I guess I said left side from the perspective of sitting
    in the drivers seat.
