Ok guys Ive been eyeing this concept for over a year now, and I have spoke to my wife and she has given me the thumbs up to get it YESS!! If you havent heard or seen the FT-86- It is the first car to be put in production since Toyota Bought Subaru in 2008, the concept car will be under the Scion tag so it will be called the "Scion FT-86T and also a model will be made under Subaru "Subaru BRZ"- The Scion model will be N/A while the Subaru will be Turboed, and both will come with a Brand New Boxer motor. It is modeled after the AE-86 Rear Wheel drive beast. Now I will let you take a look at the Reports and Exclusive interviews that have been released. oh i forgot to mention $22K base ! Yeah Let me know what you guys think of this ride! :cheers http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2011/0 ... -engineer/
I'm following the developement of this car for years now, and I must say it's looking beautiful. But not just the final version, I liked all three concepts I'm sure you'll be 100% satisfied with it and I'm very very very jealous Only in the USA, in Europe it will be a Toyota.
youll have to get a wallet that says "bad mother fu**er" -definatly want one. though i have yet to see what the subie will look like, and ive havent heard anything 100% on drivetrain and motor or final (de-tuned) styling. 2014 iirc? so sept next year. id bet theres gonna be a long friggin wait list. g.l.
European versions always have some better tweaked items, the Subaru BRZ may never even be shipped to the US but Europe would get it... im moving to europe nicer cars and sexy women!! lol :hsdance
I hope that the "US" model of scion they speak of does not include Canada...LOL I want it as a Toyota!
LOL Canada will be a Scion also- But im not worried about that cause Scion and Toyota have the same toyota /scion emblems, also the rear hatch emblem will be in toyota in europe- a quick call and you go from a Scion FR-86 to a Toyota FR-86 !
From what I've read it may even be badged as a Celica as Toyota is keen to revamp the Celica after the 205 fiasco and the limp wristed 231 Release date is sometime in 2012, dunno why the USDM has to confuse things, 1st Acura and now Scion
so from what i read in road and track (iirc) on the plane.....scion fr-s will be 200hp boxer motor rwd, $28,000 usd. its a front engine car, but there saying that it is set to far rearward for awd to ever be an option, but like everyone else they dont know. sounds like us markets will see the fr-s, and euro will see the subaru brz. same car different badging. -theres alot of people waiting to see how this one turns out.
From what hearsay I've read Scion is hurting so I figured it would be badged as such. I think it's cool they might make it a vert, the original subieyota prototype had a roof.
European version on Frankfurt Motor Show: http://www.autonavigator.hu/autosvilag_ ... iroku-5820 (sorry, article is hungarian)
Slipped out (is this the right phrase?) pics from a japanese brochure: http://galeria.totalcar.hu/hirek/20...45278_b24255f739f8456b39a75a249953d3ce_xl.jpg http://galeria.totalcar.hu/hirek/20...45280_96f06c763ae1ef0f4d6f019af8b909e0_xl.jpg
I think "leaked" is the word you're looking for. http://www.gtrusablog.com/2011/05/toyo- ... lauge.html
I think the rear of this car is extremely nice. Almost like a Holden derived design Awesome. Only thing that bugs me every time I look at this car is the front bumper. They could've done better, just as the Nissan GTR could've done better with their front bumper.
I think in general the car is pretty good!! Nice to see a new sports car released by Toyota and without being electric/hybrid is even better
