Swapping hubs

    Hey guys,

Long story short, a few of the wheels I like won't fit my car since they're either 5x120.7 or 5x114.3. One thing I've been thinking of doing was running wheel adapters. Only problem with that is that it would mess with the offset, and further limit how low of an offset I can get. (In other words, I wouldn't be able to run certain aggressive setups without fender flares or negative camber, and I don't want either of those at the moment.)

Then someone on another car forum suggested swapping the wheel hubs with that of a Toyota with the 5x114.3 lug pattern. Does anyone know how this would work, and/or what cars' hubs I could use? (Maybe SW20 MR2?)

    Thanks

AFAIK Supra pattern is 5x114.3 too, but I don't know if you can swap for Supra or MR2 hubs, as they are RWD (having or not having place for the driveshaft makes it more complicated I believe).

I think your best bet is to get the custom Diamond Racing Wheels but make sure you get the "D" windows.

Much easier and cheaper in my opinion.

Or, you can just have whichever wheels redrilled for the proper bolt pattern.

camry or rav4 :D never seen it done but they are both 5x114 and their wheel bearing is the same as the one in the celica at least part # wise :D

I think what they meant was to strip your hubs, re-drill them to the new size and re-assemble.

Also the locator may need to be re-sized, very important as it holds the rim still - not the bolts as most people think

I've seen people fit rims with the wrong locator size, in time the wheel bolts break from too much stress
trying to hold the rim still.
The bolts job is to hold the rim firm against the locator, not to take weight or shocks from bumps.

It is possible to use other hubs but they will also need machining to fit your bearings/carriers etc
The bearing may be the same size but the length, width or driveshaft splines may be different.
