the firewall? I'd just like to know if its possible for the middle console dash(consisting of the climate control, digital clock, radio, din compartment, cigarette lighter thingy) to move backback like 1.5 to 2 maybe 3 inches. Is there room back there? Or did Toyota have no choice but to put it as close as possible to the gear shifter stick?

Re: How much room between the climate controls the radio and I'm designing the upholstery, just want to make use of the room. Trying to keep the original interior as close as possible while being a bit more streamlined and modern. Hmm, maybe the din compartment can be shortened? So there's no room, everything is confined? Wouldn't hurt to move the gear selector a bit closer to the center storage, if a situation comes when the transmission is a bit longer.
