are they interchangeable? if they are i now know that i will need to get new axles. but the thing that comes to mind is the amount of liters. the 3sfe is only a 2.0L and the 5sfe is 2.2L. yea...no??? oh! and i was wondering if can do the gts conversion for the 5sfe as well?
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission hmmm... i dunno kev. but going on the code 5s is a different block to the 3s so i think it probably wont...
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission first engine size has nothing to do with with it. it could be 2l 2.2l 5l. or a bottle of mountain dew with a trannie taped to the damn thing. it will bolt up cause its all the same block, you know what you will gain? nothing. its the same shit engine winding it up. if you were smart look for a 3sge w/ 5-speed s-52. if your gonna go through the trouble, might as well do it right.
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission yup, i know what you mean man. but i dont know how to relocate the starter for it. is relocating it hard?
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission oh, sweet! is that a hard job to do or just a couple of bolts here and there?
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission i was thinking about the JDM transmission. there is a shop here that sells them but i hear that the motors and transmissions there arent good. thats why im kinda hesitant to get one from there.
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission Kev the boxes are identical worldwide, best is to find a low km 202 box from Japan. Or have one professionally re-conned, but it seems very few places are able to do it properly. Unfortunately most boxes have been thrashed over the years and it's the #1 reason cars are being scrapped here
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission aww man! that sucks! well i found one on ebay already! but that the cost is out of question now. in the summer for sure! though will i have to get a new clutch and flywheel with it then? or will it run with my current ones? by current the ones that i already purchased for mine. hey are still in the box just waiting for a transmission.
Re: 3sfe and 5sfe transmission sweet! well after mafix mentioned the jdm st202 transmission looks like the starter is in the same position as mine! unless i was looking at it wrong.
