The mat under hood of my st165 is pretty much shot, I was wondering if anyone had a sugestion on an aftermarket one.

I dont have it on my white 165, paint is holding up just fine too. Only thing is that when it rains the water steams off the hood making it look like there is something wrong haha...

Ah good so there isn't any bad down sides of removing it. I removed mine a couple weeks ago because part of it was falling down which in turn melted on the heat shield; ruined the paint job I did on it! cuss It was also just SOAKED with power steering fluid.

Ripped mine off with "great vengeance and furious anger" after it began to melt to the exhaust heat shield. Never looked back.

Plus the steaming in the rain is great, let it sit for a minute and voila, you have a nice dry place if you need it

I actually haven't noticed a difference with removing the deadening mat in my Celica. Then again, I did it recently so with the Celica not running much I haven't tested it on the highway yet. We'll see though, assuming I get it running :).
