Ok, now I have a problem with my tail lights not working. Only things not working is the rear tail lights/markers, the brake lights still come on. Also the licence plate lights dont work. Changed all fuses, globes, changed the tail light globe failure sensor box twice, about to check the switch but thats all thats left. They worked the other day, car hasnt moved since then...

Just about had enough of this stupid car!

And i dont blame you.

Have you checked the wiring, and were you doing any electrical work on the car before they stopped working?

Wiring should all be fine, car hasnt moved. Plus how the fuck you gonna trace it all through the loom down the car? lol.

Wasnt doin anything at all on it lol.

Tomorrow, just gonna remove the taillight sensor box thing, wire the wires straight according to the guide on toymods, then feed a headlight switched source down the wires for the taillights. Should work exactly the same.....

Wonder whats next to go wrong...

All thats left is get that damn motor goin properly (still, car doesnt spend much time on the road haha...), change the springs and get it all aligned, and paint the damn thing.....With single stage marine paint haha....

Mice can chew right through wires.

I have the same problem in the ladys GTS right now. I just took the rear corner lights bulbs and stuck them in the compartment for tail lights. Works for now but would like to know a good fix.

What I am going to do will be a good fix lol.

Removal of the globe failure sensor, joining two wires gives me working brake lights. Joining a different three should give me tail lights, however they arent getting power for some reason. So down that line I feed a 12V source switched with the headlights.

 C'mon some one has to have a fix for this tail light problem - I have the same thing going on in my 87 Celica GT -No rear running lights or license plate light. Sick of trying to figure this one out. Replaced all the bulbs and fuses and cannot find a wiring problem - is there a fuseable link some where we are missing ?
Speed Demon - 8) Good Call on the temp fix -"took the rear corner lights bulbs and stuck them in the compartment for tail lights".
 Wish I would of thought of this a few months ago !

Its the rear taillight failure sensor box. They commonly fuck up, and take the taillights with them. I removed mine, and simply bridged the wires to maek it all work again. Il give you what colours worked for an Aussie 86 SX Liftback, doubt if they are the same tho.

Do you have a meter or a test light? Try and find out whether you are missing power or ground, then work from there.

That's true...why not just splice into your side light....or will you still have the brake light problem then...

The box is behind the left rear quarter panel, sitting inside the car, above the wheelarch behind the interior trim. Slight pain to get at..

Join these. On mine, the green and blue was green and orange.

Not sure if the wiring is diff on a US, as you have marker lights on the sides, but that should be seperate.

When i first joined mine, it didnt work. I replaced all the fuses, and all the rear globes at nearly 20 dollars worth lol.

    Then it worked!

    Anyway goodluck.

dan1_721 - Great Picture - I should be able to figure that out.

Though I hate to do something that doesn't seem to solve the actual problem...I do want to move on !

    Thanks much !

It is a permanent fix to the problem. if your globes, headlight switch, fuses and taillight relay are all good, the box is at fault. It is common. This is a fix to bypass the box, so that it isnt needed. All you will miss is the globe out warning on the dash

Not sure if this applies but have you checked the ground near the actual bulb? Mine went bad and the tail lights wouldn't work. The ground had melted over time. The fix was easy couple washers and phillips head.
