one more item thats important to remove is the window crank handle..The easiest way that works for me is getting a slim flathead..and if you look between the panel and handle, you can see a horse shoe style clip attaching it to the crank. well push down on on end of the horseshoe untill you see it come off the crank and pull it off.
another good way to get those out is the dentist tooth pokers, smaller than a flathead and curved to make a sharp hook
Thanks for the advice guys ! Ill try it this weekend when i get around to it... Hopefully i can do it leaving everything intact lol
dash took me probably 20 minutes. 1. Take out interior piece below steering column/speaker assembly 2. Take out glove compartment/speaker assembly 3. Take out center piece trim and radio/ac unit etc. 4. Unbolt 2 bolts for steering column, then drop it. 5. Remove cluster trim/cluster assembly 6. Remove 3-4 bolts on driver side (you'll see them) 7. Remove 3-4 bolts on passenger side (you'll see them) 8. VOILA!!! The dash is no longer bolted, then you gotta wiggle the harness off the dash to make an easier removal. 9. Yay, dashless car.
Thanks Youds and Dutchmalmiss and Mafix! the help is great and muchly appreciated. i wish i could get rid of these gay-ass crank windows... they are a pain, altho they are alot better than most other cars that i know where you have to wind them 500 times to get em up and down.... good 'ol' celica windows
friend of mine had to take his moms car in to get work done on it, so they gave him a loaner for the day. it was some stupid Ford thingy, and when we went to go get some Quizno's, we found out the windows are set up so you have to roll them the opposite of how EVERY OTHER CAR WORKS One more reason why Toyota owns Ford. Well, everyone owns Ford.
you sure did a nice job. my friend attempted to spray the interior of his pintara white and it was only good for first week and den started cracking. My advice alman 162 is dunt use those fabric dye and interior spray cans you find at supacheap or autobahn. lolz.
the steeling wheel was 100 and the boss kit was 80 (prob got ripped off)... i bought one bosskit at the start and it was too short and the wheel hit the indicators and wipers, so i bought a different one which was more expensive but did the job!
i tried the paint on a few "tester" areas and its working sick! but then again, those bits dont see very much sunlight and are hardly exposed... it seems a bit risky to do. maybe i could vinyl the dash and trim myself... or i could just leave it how it is...
haha, i will once it gets back from the shop... $1000 AUS later... so much is being replaced! should run nice for a long while... fingers crossed
haha i forgot about this thread. never got around to finishing it... the paints i bought didtn work well so only the center console and a few other random bits were done! plus i got a new car and this one (grandpa interior) just sits there most of the time...
LOL agreed.. sorry to bump a old topic thread but... what paints work better spray or hand paint and when you take out parts of the interrior do you just pop it out?? or is there mor to it?? sorry im dumb.. first car only 17 years of age.. low funds..
