i have an 89 gt-s with the obvious 3sge it spun a rod bearing (keep in mind this is just my dd so no need for a 3sgte swap ) i was wondering if anybody knew if i could put a 3sfe block under my practically new head and have it work with out any problems i know the pistons are dif and the comp ratio is lower but would this make it run like doo or what i would get a ge engine but theres none local by me and plenty of fe engine for pretty cheap im trying to do this the cheapest way possible.
I know that my father has done this before. I believe he used a 3sfe block and crankshaft. I know it is possible. I'm fairly sure he kept the same compression and performance when he did it, just cheaper and slightly less durable crankshaft.
did he use all the internals of the fe engine im just looking to pretty much swap out the short block of my shot ge for an easily available fe
hey i done a rod bearing 2 last year it cost me around 800 nz dollars to get it all fixed up , new bearings etc and also got timing belt and some other stuff done , weirdly enough i still have a start up noise that sounds like it has fukd bearings reall pisses me off
Well I don't know very much about this but I do know that some of the All Trac/MR2 lads like to make stroker engines. Basically taking a 2.0L 3sgte engine and increaseing its size to 2.2L. This can be done by either overboring the 3sge block and use the 5sfe crank after it is modified or replace the 3sge block with the 5sfe block. 2.2 liter? So you may want to check at All Trac .net and on the MR2 forums to see what they have done.
