and I am sorry if this has been cover, but did search with no luck.

I removed the under cover from the vehicle when I replaced the engine. I did not put it back on because a lot of the bolt holes are busted.

I live in rabbit country (southeast Arizona) and for some reason they like to run in front of your vehicle for no reason. A few years back I hit a big ass jack rabbit and busted the front air dam and the under cover. Eventually I would like to get a body kit (the Kaminari one), I would just need to be more alert when it comes to rabbits

But, anyway the question is. Do I need it? Does it make a big difference in gas and aerodynamics? I am going to say that it matters, but what do I know?

P.S. I also just replaced my front and rear springs and shocks (Eibach and KYB GR-2) and what a difference. I was riding on springs before, all four shocks were blown.

I live in deer country (anywhere in Canada/Northern States) and for some reason they like to run in front of your vehicle for no reason. Last year I hit 3 big ass deer but anyways thats another story.................

I'd rather be picking off the occasional rabbit :fluffy:

I find the undercover on the drivers side helps prevent water from getting splashed up onto things like your distributor and such which may cause a few problems (like a dropped cylinder until it drys itself out).

    You should move here..............

deers don't like vehicles, in twelve years I've yet to hit one. I guess a rabbit is better than a deer, but they all do damage. Some more than others.

The engine undercovers help keep out water splash and road dirt; the odd rock or pebble. Any loss of mileage/aerodynamics will be negligible but I like to have them on regardless.

day to day driving you really wont need to worry I have connections at Virginia Tech and a closer community collage and we're working on an under tray for my engine bay but thats mainly to protect my car from the massive amount beat down my cars going to be put through on the offroad stuff...

If you have them keep them its a nice thing to have and random little things kept and kept in good condition, down the road might be some rare item some one wants/needs for their celica project.

Those plastic pieces do help with aerodynamics quite a bit...believe it or not....when air travel's under the car smoothly there is less wind resistance...when there's lots of traps for the air to get stuck on it's going to slow your car down....

i don't use them on any celica i put together. 20 year old abs plastic just doesn't hold up.

    What do you use?

    Mafix, Do you use anything?

I saw a thread where someone made some engine under covers out of stainless steel or something like that, but I could not find it. I think that if you have a front air dam it would not make to much of a difference. But, without one i think that air would get into the engine bay and slow you down.
