No you don't have to remove the gearbox.

Remove the oil pan and you can unbolt the oil pickup.

Remove the timing belt & covers and then you can remove the houseing that hold the pump on the front of the block.

the thing that all ur oil sits in lol , at the bottom end of the motor , when you do a oil change you undo the sump plug to let the oil out , you know which part now

I wasnt that mad my crank got scraped up..i had it knife edged..lost 8 lbs off the crank..balanced thre rods..lost another 1.5 there with all 4

Our situations are very simular sprey..kinda funny

if its messed up where the bearings mount onto the crank..You'd be better off buy a new one..might be able to have it micro polished but depends on how bad the crank is, my crank had a chunk of it missing on the ends..whatever those things are called.

Maybe you might be able to find a billet or forged crank if you had to replace it..Might as well upgrade it while your at it man

yeah but cost , lol !!! , how much more power would a differnt crank give me

    None.

You could get a lighter crank, or a knife edged crank that would spin faster, but a crank won't give you more power.

A stronger crank means less chance of it warping if you go after more power.

A crank is just yet another part that equals the whole.

I know that with SBCs I have run upwards of 300% more power on stock cranks with no issues.

Right no more power but you'd rev out alot faster..I noticed a dif when i installed a lightened crank pulley [loss of about 2-3 lbs] Think of how much harder you will pull with 9.5 lbs off the rotating assy..And if you went forged, Someday if you wanted you could use a nice shot of nitrous at the track with a clear conscious
