possible differential problem

Lately i've noticed that my car makes a strange noise when taking turns at any speed. It is random in the fact that i haven't found any variables that make the sound appear at any set time. It almost sounds like gears rotating and meshing and it comes from the area right below the center consul.

Usually the longer that i've been driving the car, the louder and more pronounced the sound is. It also much more noticeable when the weather is warmer, it still happens when colder just not a frequently/loudly. I don't feel any difference in performance when it goes off, but it scares the hell out of me.

I think it may be a center differential issue based on when and what conditions it happens in. Any thoughts?

Is there a different plug or is it simply changing out the tranny oil?
