Hi im new to this people, i bought a 1989 toyota celica 3sge (usa version 135bhp, I am putting this engine into another toyota project i am doing at the moment, But was wondering what bits and pieces i can change to get more power from it, im taking off the tvis and putting on throttle bodies, and iv seen on other forums that u can change parts from the 2nd gen head and put them in the 1st gen head etc etc, i was hoping somebody could help me out with the info, id like to have the engine around 200bhp when finished, so i know i need different cams valves, pistons etc, like i said anybody that can help me i would really appreciate it :)

Buy a 4.gen (RedTop BEAMS) 3SGE or 2nd gen 3SGTE. You'll have around 200hp from the fraction of that money that you would spend on upgrading your current engine to 200hp.

I agree, a redtop or blacktop is the better versions of that engine and they do 200hp stock, im sure they would do even more with headers and a few other mods hehe. Hell id settle for a graytop beams if i could ever find one, its still a ton better than my first gen 3sge in my 89gts

Hard to do as 2nd gen cams do not fit without changing the valve buckets. there are lots of pages on here, do a search.
    Aftermarket Pistons + 3SGTE rods
the piston oil coolers only come in 3SGTE blocks, so I don't know if that helps you.
exhaust, you can probably run a 4-2-1 header from a 3rd gen 3sge...

Gen1 is a dead end - look for a later motor and fit that.
Gen3 exhausts don't fit earlier models

Read my thread for more info/ideas

    Do a swap!

I can tell you from 1st hand experience. I spent $5500 on my engine build, 12yrs ago! I built it with forged internals and built for nitrous. I had 146hp to the wheels without nitrous, and 257hp with. I had a full stand alone Accel DFI Gen VI engine management system. I had probably $20-30k into my car and it went up in flames at the track in August 2013.

I have a lot of really expensive custom made parts, if you want to buy em? Custom intake manifold, complete custom stainless header, and stainless 3" exhaust with high flow cat and test pipe to swap. All V-band clamps. :)

You telling us that you had an all out race 3s-GE and it only made 257hp?
