Lots of pre-load on that coilover racerb! Does it actually bounce when you hit a pothole?

Can you get the insultors from the dealer? Did you replace the spring seat too? mcphfront.jpg

Is it this rubber piece? 162 strut insulator 005.jpg
    Mine are shredded :(

I had to strip mine off a car with no wheels sitting on the brakes, it was lame.

This place has both upper and lower insulators for about $28 each.
Might be a good idea to call and double-check though:

My local dealer had part numbers but said they were not available anywhere in North America.

rick: the 87 gt-s at ralphs on mitchell had two decent ones...also had drilled rotors! but i didn't grab it cuz i wasn't gonna pay $20 for rubber pieces...i might just end up mocking up some polyurethane :D

Thanks for the tip; I may head there later today. Lemme know how the polyU works for you.

How does the car handle track wise you think now?

I was considering the coilover set from ebay, but don't know if I want to lower the car more than this...would this setup be sufficient for trackdriving?

You won't have to lower the car with that set, you can ask for any height adjustability range you want. But, as I see that set disappeared from eBay. At least I cannot find it anymore.

-wasnt sure who the question was for but....mines great for auto-x. I always have the struts on full firm even daily driving and its stiffer than most would want. i like mine setup super hard all the time. I still think id like a stiffer spring aswell but daily would be jarring. im think if i can get sways that will be the final piece.

-I do feel like coils may be the way to go just for the fact that you can get a wider wheel.

was indeed ment for you as you driven them a while now :).

Couldn't find that ebay coilover as well... saving for an upgrade as that is the most important big upgrade coming up for me. :)

I'm at the part where you take off the old cartridge, but it's not coming out.

-what do you mean? did you get the nut off?

yeh i got that nut off, the guts took forever to come out, had to tap the sides while pulling it out. however i have a problem now...my new nut is the wrong thread for my strut assembly!! it's way off too..it's about 5 spins on the old nut = 4 spins on the new nut. what to do!?

do you have a close up of your old nut from the side? maybe the 87's are different...

Dont strip it whatever you do. the koni kit came with 2 new nuts for each front strut. 1 fine thread and 1 coarse (iirc i used the fine). can you use/mod the old nut?

i'll see what i can do. i could go to my high school shop and see if they can drill it out (1inch drill bit anyone?) . it looks like the agx's came with only coarse and i need a fine one

i would think that would work, as long as the hole you drill is nicley centered. you could also see if you can buy the nuts from kyb.

i'm not sure if it's only because my car is prefacelift but this is what slowed me down:
left: kyb replacement lock (notice thread difference), middle: original lock, right: original lock machined out to 40.0mm

hmmm. that sucks. the konis came with 2 nuts for each front. 1 coarse and 1 fine thread. the fine thread ones fit perfect.
